“It is a choice, clearly on the left, that we are proposing with our list”

– What is, for you, the stake of this election?
– The fight against inequalities and the fight for a fair distribution of the wealth produced in Corsica. The latest INSEE study draws a number of answers that call for answers to the difficulties that thousands of households across the island face: high cost of living, shortage of social housing, low wages, job insecurity … The Community of Corsica should have, even more so in this period of health crisis, erected a social shield in favor of the most modest. Instead, it was around the interests of the great Corsican bosses that the maintenance of the anti-social status quo was voted by the Assembly of Corsica. All elected officials approved the Executive Stimulus Pact.

– What are the main axes of this program, the themes on which you are campaigning?
– Liberal policies have serious consequences. Purchasing power and employment are deteriorating. Public services are declining, hospitals are being abused. The prices of sea transport tickets are excessive. Housing is kept under speculative pressure, when one in two households in Corsica has nothing. Important subjects remain unresolved: high fuel prices, cost of living, shortage of social housing, employment, waste and suddenly, tax hype, protection of the coast and nature, land speculation, artificialisation of seaside spaces, protection of land for cultivation and breeding….

– For you, what is the immediate priority, the most urgent file to deal with for the new term of office?
– In addition to the social emergency, the lack of strategic planning has an impact on land use planning. This can be seen with the projects for the extension of the Corsican Railways in the Eastern Plain, the new port of Bastia, the construction of the large Ajaccio power station … And it is the dependence on the mono-activity of the tourism which leads to wanting, for example, to double the capacity of Figari airport. Climate, environmental and societal issues are not being addressed up to the challenges of this century. The loss of the European Protected Area label for the Scandola reserve illustrates, on the one hand, the situation. On the other hand, societal issues such as violence, harassment, sexual assault, feminicides, discrimination and racism call for more attention, as the courageous movement “IwasCorsica” invites. Finally, cultural policy, aid for young creations, the dissemination of knowledge and works, should show more openness to the world and cultural plurality …

– Precisely, you wrote a column in l’Humanité favorable to the Molac law. What do you think of the decision of the Constitutional Council?
– The maneuvers of the government and the posturing of the President of the Republic are pitiful! As might be expected, the Constitutional Council took action to invalidate two of the articles of this law in favor of the teaching of regional languages. This decision, if it confirms the creation of the tuition fee paid by the municipalities for private schools providing this education, is opposed to immersive education and the use of diacritics in civil status documents. It can, under these conditions, obstruct what is in practice, in particular with us, in the public framework. We must therefore ensure here that the decision of the Constitutional Council does not result in calling into question what is already being done.

– All the candidates say they want to solve the daily problems of Corsicans. How do you plan to get there?
– For our part, we demand the fair sharing of wealth. In 20 years, the wealth produced per capita has increased by 70%, but inequalities have only widened. A tiny minority got richer. The Competition Authority’s report showed that national solidarity was captured to the detriment of consumers and motorists. Without control, the prices of everyday consumer goods, such as fuel, will not fall. The VAT rebate will continue to be misused to increase distributors’ margins. It is indeed a system which, beyond the interaction with the territorial representation, dominates the economy through the Consortium of Corsican bosses, the Rubis group or even Corsica Ferries. The dismantling of this system is the direction that must be taken and that we recommend, while Bruno Lemaire and the Macron government have yet to refuse to implement the provisions that would make it possible to stop these embezzlement of VAT rebates. to restore purchasing power to households.
