LESS OF THIS: Kygo envisages fewer performances in the future. Photo: Erik Simander / TT NEWS AGENCY

The summer of 2020 was the first without live performances in seven years for Kygo. Quiet days in Bergen have made him reconsider his lifestyle with hectic touring activities.

The pop star tells it Gentleman’s Journal, who has made a longer portrait of him.

There, Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll (28) talks about that what he likes best is to be at home and produce music in peace and quiet – albeit with regular rounds on the tennis court, his new favorite pastime.

Since 2014, he has been constantly on the go and held concerts from April to September every year.

– So I have not had the opportunity to be home in the summer, which is the time you want to be home. I really enjoyed this silence. It has made me think. I may not tour that much in the future. I enjoy this balance. It was tiring earlier, says Kygo to the magazine.

Not justified

– I would rather do fewer shows and be a jerk at doing each and every one of them, than play every day. The audience has bought tickets to see me play. They want to be there. I feel it’s not fair to them if I do not want to be on stage myself.

Kygo says that he had intended to be more at home and perform less than usual this year, and that the corona situation was good timing in that sense.

However, it has resulted in a loss for him. At the end of May, he released his third album, “Golden Hour” – and he is not sure how it has affected the audience, since he is not allowed to hold concerts and see their reactions.

The only exception was an online festival he performed at around the record release.

– The response online was great. But I have not seen it with my own eyes yet, says the 28-year-old.
