Israeli Defense Minister Suggests Imminent Ground Invasion of Gaza Strip

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant told infantry soldiers gathered on the Gaza Strip border on Thursday that they would soon see the Palestinian enclave “from the inside,” suggesting that a ground invasion may be imminent.

He added, according to a statement reported by Reuters, “You see Gaza now from afar, and soon you will see it from within. The matter will be issued.”

Israel is preparing to launch a large-scale air, land and sea attack. Tanks and tens of thousands of troops were massed along the Gaza border.

In a step closer to speculation regarding the launch hour of the ground attack, the Israeli army, on Friday, asked residents to evacuate areas in the northern Gaza Strip, coinciding with an intense aerial bombardment campaign taking place in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.

Israel launched raids on the Gaza Strip and announced the imposition of a siege on it following the bloodiest attack on civilians in Israeli history, carried out by Hamas, on October 7.

The attack launched by Hamas, which targeted civilians in addition to military headquarters, resulted in the killing of hundreds and the kidnapping of dozens, most of them civilians, including children and women.

The Israeli response, which targeted large areas of Gaza, also resulted in the deaths of hundreds, most of them civilians, including children and women.
