Israel claims to have killed top Hezbollah commander – 2024-02-20 19:39:53

The Israeli Army claimed this Thursday to have killed a “senior commander” of the forces Radwanthe elite unit of the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollahin an air attack in which seven civilians were also killed, in the Lebanese city of Nabatieh.

“Last night (Wednesday), a commander of Hezbollah’s Radwan forces, Ali Muhamad Aldbas, his deputy commander, Ibrahim Isa, as well as another terrorist were killed”the armed forces said in a statement.

According to the military note, Aldbas had participated in the orchestration of a bomb attack carried out on March 23, 2023 at a road junction in the kibbutz of Meguido (northern Israel), in which a motorcyclist was injured.

For its part, the Lebanese National News Agency (ANN) confirmed today that it was in that same attack carried out by an Israeli fighter plane in which seven civilians died, including four children.

Hours earlier, another woman of Syrian origin and her two children had died in another Israeli bombing in Suaneh, making yesterday the deadliest since the crossfire on the border intensified on October 8.

The Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Gallantassured today that the Army has intensified its attacks against Hezbollah to level one out of ten and warned that “the Air Force planes currently flying in the skies of the Lebanon “They have heavier bombs for more distant targets,” local press reported.

The military statement reported today that Israeli fighters have attacked a Hezbollah “military structure” in the Blida area and another in Marun al Ras, in southern Lebanon.

Given the high number of civilian deaths in the last few hours, the Lebanese Prime Minister, Najib Mikatiordered today to present an “urgent” complaint against Israel before the UN Security Council.

The border between Israel and Lebanon is experiencing its highest peak of tension since 2006 with an intense exchange of fire for more than four months that has claimed the lives of at least 278 people, most on the Lebanese side and in the ranks of Hezbollah. which has confirmed some 199 casualties in its ranks, some of them in Syria.
