Israel Attacked by Many Incendiary Balloons after Bombarding Gaza

GAZA – Resistance groups Palestine in the Gaza Strip attacking territory Israel with lots of incendiary balloons last Wednesday. This balloon attack came hours after Israeli fighter jets bombarded the Palestinian enclave.

The attack by Zionist fighter jets on Wednesday morning was claimed to be a response to an incendiary balloon attack on Tuesday evening. The Zionist attack was the first in the era of the new government under Prime Minister (PM) Naftali Bennett.

The attacks also undermined a ceasefire agreement to end the 11-day conflict that killed hundreds of people in Gaza last month.

“Teams are dealing with four fires started by balloons launched yesterday afternoon from the Gaza Strip,” the Israeli fire department told AFP, which was launched Thursday (17/6/2021). The fire department noted that the incendiary balloon attack was the second in a row.

Tensions have also risen again in the West Bank, the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territory, where Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian woman after being accused of trying to hit soldiers with a car and then stabbing them.

The new violence came a day after the ultranationalist Jewish Flag Marches flooded a flashpoint in Jerusalem’s Old City, where police clashed with Palestinians to clear the procession’s route. In the action, the marchers shouted “death to the Arabs”.

Tensions in east Jerusalem, culminating in Israeli police repeatedly clashing with Palestinian worshipers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, were the trigger for last month’s 11-day conflict between Gaza’s rulers; Hamas with the Zionist military.

The Israeli military said that in response to incendiary balloons sent to Israel on Tuesday, their fighter jets struck a military compound belonging to the Hamas organization on Wednesday morning.

There is no indication of any casualties.

“The military is ready for any scenario, including the resumption of hostilities, in the event of further attacks from Gaza,” the Israeli military said.

PM Bennett yesterday met with army chief Aviv Kochavi, and the two discussed the lessons learned from the operation in the Gaza Strip last May.
