Isabelle Weislo was to open the doors of her studio to the public on the occasion of the European days of crafts, from April 6 to 11, 2021, but confinement and the health crisis decided otherwise.
In his studio on rue Jean Romain, in Caen (Calvados) where she has been living since February, Isabelle creates jewelry from A to Z. Metal jewelry and textile jewelry that bloom after long hours of work. Isabelle is “author of jewelry”, as she calls herself.
Because jewelry tells a story. It is a dialogue between the one who creates it and the one who will wear it. And the jewel is often a family story, handed down from mother to daughter, from father to son.
Metal or textile jewelry
“For metal jewelry, either I work with silver, or with brass that I have gold plated at a gilder in Paris to give them durability. “Isabelle also likes to start from a” material that is not particularly precious “such as leather threads, silk, cotton, linen to” precisely make something precious out of the time spent to imagine and create it. “.
So many ideal materials for those who have chosen crochet to develop their long necklaces, earrings, brooches… A technique that has finally stuck to her fingers since she was a child.
The click on a Bayeux market

First self-taught, Isabelle wanted to professionalize her know-how by retraining. After a jeweler’s CAP in 2012, his passion became his profession. At 48 years old.
Better late than never ! And I do not regret having made this choice, despite the fears of my relatives. It was so obvious to me.
And finally his old profession, which allowed him “to learn rigor, administrative and legal aspects”, came to complete his new profession. Today, that’s what helps him run his business.
In her workshop, Isabelle can both sell jewelry, show her work and also share it by giving introductory jewelry courses (currently suspended due to confinement). She also hopes to be able to exhibit her favorite artisans there in the future.
Ideas, desires …
–In the meantime, Isabelle continues to imagine new jewelry. She still has so many desires. No jewelry with precious stones on the program but glass frosted by the sea found on our beaches … Isabelle is far from being at the end of the path of creation: because in the world of jewelry, “we can imagine anything, everything is possible. “
