The government has a plan for gas and oil supplies to the country. This became clear from the words of Energy Minister Alexander Nikolov before the meeting of the relevant energy commission. Asked when Bulgaria could give up Russian gas at the earliest, Minister Nikolov said: “It depends on the price we are willing to pay“.
When asked by News.bg what is the reasonable price we are willing to pay, he answered succinctly: “The price of natural gas depends on multiple indices and on specific pointsto which the delivery is. It is natural that when transport costs are higher, when there is no conventional delivery, they are higher. For that reason Bulgaria is one of the countrieswhich initiates common approach at EU level. We are talking about quantities in a much higher amount, so use this to achieve a better price. “
However, during the meeting of the Energy Commission it became clear how much it will cost us to give up gas from Russia.

Alexander Nikolov pointed out that there is a risk, but unilateral termination of the contract is hardly possible. However, unilateral non-performance of a contract is possible. We have conversations with Croatia for liquefied gas supply, if this is possible. However, there are alternatives to Russian gas 40% more expensive than the contract with Gazpromit became clear from his words.
