Irritated among Russian stars after the accident: ‘He insulted me’

Now they barely talk to each other.

An accident occurred in a semifinal of the Russian Sprint Cup in an internal curve in which he crashed sensationally during a duel in the Russian Cup decided in Krasnogarsk. Ustiugov held the inside corner down a hill and as they accelerated out of it both suddenly found themselves in snow.

– I started sliding to the left and then he cut my skis, making me fall. I lost consciousness for a while after hitting my head hard. It was terribly boring, Bolshunov says according to MatchTV.

During the interview, you see several bleeding wounds on Bolshunov’s face. Then he was torn between two riders who obviously don’t like each other.

“I thought everything was according to the rules”

– He insulted me when we got off. I thought everything was within the rules, but I’m not sure, says Ustiugov – and he believes it is necessary to see the replay of the event to determine guilt.

Just two days ago there was also an incident between the skaters, who became Olympic champions together in the relay last winter, when Bolzhsunov jumped onto the track ahead of Ustiugov as many as three times in a classic sprint.

Ustiugov was enraged afterwards and explained to Bolshunov that he was committing foul play. The jury got involved and Bolshunov was allowed to keep the victory, but received a warning.

– We haven’t spoken to each other since Sunday and today we only said hello, says Bolshunov.
