Discovering Europe by bicycle: two hundred routes in the latest Lonely Planet guide

Two hundred routes on road, dirt road and paths. The emotion of discovering Europe in harmony with nature. The new title for the series Lonely Planet dedicated to legendary journeys, it offers 200 ideas for cycling adventures in Europe.

The destinations are suited to different travel types and abilities, and each story is accompanied by photographs, an illustrated map and a range of practical planning details. A book that demonstrates how cycling is an excellent way to get to know a place, its culture and its people.

From dream escapes to sunny Mediterranean islands to cycle routes along the Danube, from challenging Alpine crossings to the most remote corners of northern Scotland, from majestic mountain passes in the Pyrenees to cities like Berlin and Copenhagen.

Among the collaborators of this publication are also journalists and writers Rob Pennwho toured the world by bicycle, and Ned Boultingthe British TV voice who commented on the major cycling competitions in Europe, from the Tour de France to the Vuelta a España.

The stories narrated in the various chapters are first-hand accounts of experiences in every corner of Europe, accompanied by a ‘Travel Kit’ (when to leave, how to get there, where to sleep, links to useful sites). Then there is the ‘To stay on topic’ section, which suggests 150 other routes nearby or with similar characteristics.
