Iranian Foreign Minister Urges US to End “Economic Terrorism” Against Iranians – Xinhua English.news.cn

TEHRAN, September 20 (Xinhua) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian urged the United States on Tuesday to end its “economic terrorism” against Iranians instead of shedding “crocodile tears” over the death of an Iranian woman.

Speaking in response to Washington’s concerns over the recent death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman who died while in police custody in Iran, Amir-Abdollahian tweeted that an investigation into her “tragic death” had been opened.

Ms. Amini died in hospital after being taken into police custody in Tehran, causing protests and a surge of sympathy among Iranians.

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan tweeted that “we will continue to hold Iranian officials accountable for such human rights violations,” while the Iranian senior diplomat replied that US officials regard human rights as human “a tool against their opponents”.

“Instead of shedding crocodile tears, the United States must put an end to its economic terrorism” against the Iranians, the Iranian minister noted. end
