Iran Executes Four People Over Possible Cooperation With Israel | Abroad

Iran executed four people on Sunday for alleged collaboration with an Israeli intelligence service. This was reported by the Iranian news agency IRNA.

The men were arrested in June and convicted by a court on Wednesday of “theft and damage to private and public property, kidnapping and extortion of false confessions”. Those sentenced to death would have received help from the Israeli Mossad intelligence service.

Iran and Israel are bitter enemies and regularly accuse each other of espionage. Iran blames Israel, among others, for the current unrest in the country.

Demonstrations against the strict Islamic regime have been underway in Iran since September. The wave of protests began after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. She was arrested by the assistant squad and died after being beaten at the police station. Since then, six protesters have been sentenced to death for their participation in anti-regime protests.
