The COVID-19 vaccine will be produced in the factories of an Iranian pharmaceutical company, and the first batch of doses will be available at the end of April, said Kianoush Jahanpour, spokesman for the Iranian Food and Pharmaceuticals Agency, quoted by state television.
Iran and Russia will jointly produce up to 40 million doses of this vaccine in Iran over the next twelve months, he added.
Iran has already received more than 500,000 doses of Sputnik V from Russia, which will enable it to immunize health workers and vulnerable people as part of the first phase of its vaccination campaign against the new coronavirus.
