Continuing the tradition of celebrating anniversaries, on June 19 at 12.00-17.00 Valmiermuiža Park will host a fair of home-made producers and craftsmen “Gardu muti”, which will allow you to sing Midsummer, prepare a festive feast and various craftsmen, as well as learn about Valmiermuiža – its history and surroundings. Although the international ethno-festival “Butter” took place every year during the summer solstice in Valmiermuiža, it has been moved to August 28 this year.
In the market you will be able to meet a variety of merchants from the edges, who will bring with them summer delicacies, hearty bread, cheese, meat and drinks for all tastes, as well as beautiful jewelry, clothes and handicrafts. The masters of Valmiermuiža brewery have brewed a special Midsummer beer in honor of the celebrations. In turn, the tasters of Gardu mouth have taken care that we can relax with refreshing zelter on warm days.
Everyone will be able not only to buy goods at the market, but also to enjoy the scenic surroundings, learn about the twists and turns of history – listening to the recording of Valmiermuiža stories and looking at the possible volume of the former Valmiermuiža castle on environmental stands. The Valmiermuiža beer kitchen will offer beer viewing, where you can discover the story of the compatibility of beer and matched snacks. Lazing in the park, you can dine and enjoy a delicious snack. The Valmiermuiža stable family will also be located there.
At the summer solstice, the sun has reached its highest point in the sky – the longest day and the shortest night are expected. The bouquet of home and surroundings is the provision of fertility and blessing to the farm, protection against evil, but it also creates a sense of celebration in oneself. To celebrate the joy, you have to arrange a feast, where during this time a cheese roll is specially placed on the table as a symbol of the sun, round cakes and expensive beer. Be sure to take care of the Midsummer fire, which reflects the victory of good over evil.
