NEW YORK – A power outage on Sunday night caused disruptions to several subway lines in the city and authorities are asking users to consider alternate routes.

The affected lines are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and L.

The agency recommends using the MTA app to find nearby bus options or consult an agent. People can receive a courtesy pass for a free transfer to other subway lines or a bus.

Apparently the problem was due to a power surge and ConEdison is investigating whether a fire that broke out in a sewer in Long Island City could have caused this situation that caused the loss of electrical service.
