Abu Dhabi, October 12, WAM / The activities of the International Archives Council Congress Youth Forum “Abu Dhabi 2023”, which was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), concluded today.
The forum hosted more than 50 young men and women from the ages of 17 to 37 years, to discuss important topics, led by sustainability, and discuss ways to find solutions to contemporary global challenges, by improving the efficiency of information and knowledge management among young people.
The participants stressed the importance of the forum as a platform to involve the youth segment in decision-making in the field of archival work, embodying the UAE’s commitment to empowering the younger generation and enhancing their role as the driving force for development and moving towards a brighter future.
They pointed out that achieving sustainable development requires the active participation of young people, and providing them with all means and tools that enable them to play their pivotal role in advancing development, noting the need to motivate and encourage young people to innovate solutions to various sustainability challenges.
They explained that the forum provided spaces for young people to participate in discussions centered around employing information management methodologies, cognitive resources and documentary materials in addressing sustainability challenges, and gave them a platform to present their visions and ideas and exchange experiences with their peers from all over the world.
The International Council on Archives Abu Dhabi 2023 Congress Youth Forum discussed several topics and axes, most notably “information as a resource for achieving sustainability,” “identifying and accessing information that is obtained reliably,” and “responsibility for using information to enrich the knowledge society.” The forum also discussed how to direct archives and information management to lay the foundations for a more sustainable future.
The activities of the International Council on Archives Congress Youth Forum Abu Dhabi 2023 focused on encouraging young people to innovate and create, providing learning opportunities and communicating with experts in this field.
The forum included dialogue sessions, workshops, and awareness and training lectures, and was an important milestone in the archival work process.
It is noteworthy that the Congress of the International Council on Archives, held in Abu Dhabi, is a distinguished station in the process of archival work, as it is the largest ever in the history of Congress sessions, in addition to being a dynamic platform for dialogue and communication between a group of thinkers, opinion leaders, and archival and documentation experts from various parts of the world.
The course is held under the slogan “Enriching Knowledge Societies,” and includes many activities within the framework of the scientific program, the International Council on Archives Congress Hackathon, in addition to the first edition of the International Council on Archives Congress Youth Forum.
