Four bullet holes in the shop window testify to the attack on a furniture store on Unteren Bönigstrasse in Interlaken. In the early Saturday evening, a man fired several times with a gun at the shop in the middle of the village.

The Bern police confirmed an operation on request. The shots were fired on Saturday around 5:30 p.m. A patrol from the Bern cantonal police had been informed of the firing by a woman on a bicycle who had noticed the incident.

Suspect arrested
Shortly thereafter, the police stopped a man suspected of being connected to the gunfire. The man was taken to the police station for further investigation. He was arrested for the time being. The police seized a firearm from him.

BLICK was able to speak to an employee of the furniture store concerned. “Fortunately, when the shots were fired we were already done and the shop was closed.” In the afternoon, two employees and several customers were on the premises. “It is impossible to imagine what would have happened if there had been an attack earlier in the day,” says the employee.

Police are looking for witnesses
Several eyewitnesses report how a man was arrested near the Interlaken train station shortly after the gunshot attack. Why the attack occurred and whether people were injured is unclear. The police are looking for witnesses who have noticed the incident.
