The opening of a criminal investigation by the Police, regarding the possible commission of criminal offenses by members of the Shooting Federation of Cyprus, is recommended by the Attorney General of the Republic Giorgos Savvidis.
As stated in an announcement by the Legal Service, with the instructions of the Attorney General to the Chief of Police to initiate a criminal investigation regarding the possibility of committing any criminal offenses by members of the Cyprus Rifle Association and other persons, the relevant findings were forwarded to the Police today, as well as the collected witness material, which had been handed over to the Attorney General by the Sports Ethics and Protection Committee.
As reported, the findings were forwarded to the Attorney General on November 2, 2023 and February 1, 2024, respectively.
Officials of the Legal Service of the Republic, after studying and evaluating all the material, recommended the initiation of a criminal investigation by the Police, regarding the possible commission of any criminal offenses arising from the events mentioned in said findings, the announcement concludes.
