Instagram it is claimed that it will present a longer duration option for formatted content Reels up to 10 minutes.

The news about the longer duration option was conveyed by the famous mobile developer and leaker Alessandro Paluzzi.

#Instagram is developing the ability to create #Reels up to 10 minutes,” Paluzzi tweeted on his X alias Twitter account, Wednesday (30/8).

Quoted from help page Instagram, all short videos uploaded to the Instagram feed are shared as Reels as of July 2022. This includes videos previously posted to the feed and videos posted on Instagram web.

Reels allows users to record and edit short videos of up to 90 seconds on Instagram Camera or from footage on their cellphones. Users can upload their videos directly or add effects and music to Reels

While the maximum limit for these videos is currently three minutes, screenshots uploaded by Paluzzi indicate a large increase of up to 10 minutes.

This will effectively turn this social media site into a more diverse video sharing platform like YouTube.

Quoted from Engadgetthis upgrade will allow Instagram Meta to further compete with TikTok, as TikTok already allows users to post videos up to 10 minutes long.

TikTok and Instagram appear to be stuck in a sort of mimicry, with one app regularly adopting features the other initially rolls out.

Meanwhile, YouTube is moving in the opposite direction and presenting content in short video formats.

With that said, the days when users conveniently labeled Instagram as a “photo” platform, TikTok as “short videos” and YouTube as “long videos” are gone.

Now all platforms seem to want to be an all-in-one platform.
