Instagram now shows guides with tips on wellness and mental health

Instagram is adding a feature that offers a new way to discover content on the platform.

This new option is called Guides and it will show us recommendations from institutions, influencers and public figures. They are collections curated on different themes, starting with content focused on the coronavirus. It is not about information about the virus, but focuses attention on its effects on well-being and mental health.

For example, in the Deepika Padukone profile you can see a 15-point guide on “Covid-19 mental health in time” with a series of contents with recommendations for taking care of yourself, dealing with stress and anxiety. Each of the points is an independent Instagram post, be it an image or a video.

Some of the recommendations come from publications of the same figure and others are taken from institutions related to the subject. For example, Deepika’s guide shares a video with routines to maintain during the pandemic and manage stress, which belongs to a publication by The Live Love Laugh Foundation.

Of course, all posts follow Instagram style, are brief, and focus on visual details to get the message across. At the moment, the Guides are only available in the profiles of the chosen organizations and public figures, but the possibility of viewing them from the Explore tab will also be added. To see these guides from the profiles we just have to select the new icon in the form of a brochure or book, as you see in the image above.

If you want to share these guides with your friends or followers, you can do it through Stories and direct messages. It will be interesting to see what other themes Instagram adds in the coming months.
