To celebrate her 29th birthday, Ekaterina Didenko wanted to do it big. To make it unforgettable, the popular influencer followed by more than a million people on Instagram had planned a little surprise for her guests: the unloading of 25 kg of dry ice in the indoor pool to create a “spectacular spectacle of steam “, as reported by Sun.
An event that had the opposite effect than that desired since instead of prolonging the party, it tipped it into horror. Several people having been poisoned, including Valentin Didenko, Nastya’s partner and father of his child.
“It was a nightmare”
The blogger herself confirmed the information in a video posted in her Instagram story. “Valya (nickname Valentin Didenko, note) is no longer with us. I did not cry yesterday but today, I crack. I didn’t want to believe it, it was a nightmare. Nastya (the couple’s daughter) woke up today asking me where ‘daddy’ was. I don’t know what to tell her… ”, explains the young woman.
As the video filmed at the time of the drama shows, the guests laughed and partied before the dry ice was thrown into the pool. Because immediately after this gesture, they began to suffer from serious respiratory problems and to pass out, some even suffering from chemical burns report the British media.
A celebration that claimed the lives of 25-year-old Natalia Monakova and Yuri Alferov. The two victims died at the scene of the tragedy. Valentin Didenko died a few hours later in the hospital. Seven other people were treated for their injuries.
Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide that produces heavier vapor than air when mixed with water. At high concentrations, it can raise levels of carbon dioxide in the blood, preventing oxygen from reaching vital organs.
The three victims were in the water when the dry ice was launched. Natalia and Yuri are said to have died of pulmonary edema after breathing the gas. An expert wondered if it was normal dry ice or if it contained “another substance” which worsened the poisoning.
