JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Honda Civic sedan is rumored to be stopping production in Japan, this is because the unit is no longer being looked at by consumers in its hometown.

Sales of Civic sedans in Japan only sold 1,619 units in the period March 2019 – Aprol 2020. This shows the car is increasingly unpopular in Japan. So, what about the fate of the Honda Civic in Indonesia?

Business Innovation and Sales & Marketing Director of PT HPM, Yusak Billy, said that he would not stop selling Honda Civic in the near future.

“Until now there are no plans to stop selling Civic in Indonesia,” Billy said when contacted Kompas.com, Wednesday (07/01/2020)

Although in general the sales of sedans in Indonesia are not large, Billy said that the loyalty of consumers who made the Japanese manufacturer maintain the Honda Civic until now.

“The sale of a model in a country is certainly determined by the market and consumer demand of each, and to date the Civic is one of the models that has loyal consumers in Indonesia,” he said.

Billy continued, in terms of sales of Honda sedan sedans during normal conditions before the pandemic only 80 units per month.

“As for the hatchback model, the monthly sales figure is 120 units,” said Billy.
