Lauber led at least 25 cases in which FIFA innovators were suspected of corruption in the election of the World Cup organizers in 2018 and 2022. In 2018, it became clear that he had met with Infantin twice in the meantime, and later there was evidence of their aunt meeting.
Two years ago, Lauber admitted the first two meetings with Infantin in 2016, stating that it was a drainage meeting with FIFA’s new body on the dark of corruption cases. As part of the meeting at the Bern hotel in June 2017, the prosecutor and Infantino later said that they do not remember what they were talking about.
The federal federal court recently found that Lauber had breached his official duties on several points and lied to investigators. Lauber, who, in his own words, wanted to protect the uprising with his resignation, or Infantino is not aware of any doubts on his part.
Last June, Lauber received orders to investigate FIFA’s corruption cases. In the ordinary, he was sentenced to eight percent for breaching his obligation to pay, and on appeal Lauber achieved a reduced percentage of five percent.
