Indonesia’s Decision Not to Lockdown Is Right

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir considered that President Joko Widodo’s decision not to take a lock down policy in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic was right.

The government itself has chosen to take a Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) policy to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

“I don’t want to argue with anyone, (the decision) doesn’t do it lockdown that’s right. Because it is proven that compared to (other) G20 (countries), we may be in second or third rank with the best economies, “said Erick, Monday (10/8/2020).

In fact, continued Erick, the IMF predicts that Indonesia will be included in the big countries in the world in 2024. Because, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, many countries have experienced a worse economic decline than Indonesia.

“The IMF also dared to issue data in 2024, we rank five in the world because other (countries) are minus 17-15, our minus is a bit small, so our running is slow, it turns out that some are slower,” he said.

The man who is also the Chief Executive of the Committee for Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (PEN) said that the Indonesian economy could fully recover in 2022.

“Our business will return 100 percent, like it or not, it’s the first quarter of 2022,” he said.
