Indian Men’s and Women’s Cricket Teams Set to Compete in Asian Games Cricket With Direct Entry into Quarter-Finals

Mumbai: Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams compete in Asian Games cricket. India’s men’s and women’s teams will get direct entry into the quarter-finals as per the ICC rankings. The matches will have the status of International T20.

The teams in the top four positions in the ICC rankings on June 1 have been allowed direct entry into the quarter. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will enter the quarter directly. The men’s team match will be held after the women’s team match. The women’s team’s quarter-final is on September 22. If qualified, the semi-finals will be held on the 25th and the gold and bronze medal matches will be held on the 26th.

The quarter-finals of the men’s teams are scheduled for October 5, the semi-finals on October 6 and the gold and bronze medal matches on October 7. The ODI World Cup starts on October 5.

Harmanpreet Kaur has been selected as the captain of the women’s team and Ruturaj Gaekwad as the captain of the men’s team. Yashaswi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Verma and Rinku Singh who shone in IPL. Harmanprat can only play if the women’s team reaches the final as she has a two-match ban for misconduct in the ODI series against Bangladesh. Although cricket was a medal event in the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games, India did not send a team.
