The fraud was discovered after the life insurance company involved asked the police for an investigation. The American life insurance policy was already suspicious because the man had faked his wife’s death four years earlier.
During the investigation, the police found that people close to the man gave contradictory information.

The officers also checked phone calls and discovered that the man was still alive. He had previously masqueraded as his own cousin when his doppelganger’s body had to be identified at the hospital.
The man and four accomplices have since been arrested.
