A newly married couple was swinging their hips on the floor for their first dance when the going got tough.

After exchanging vows, wedding rings and kissing, Julie Benn and Paul Ritcher were ready to party at their reception in Pennsylvania.

During their first dance, to the song “Stay” by the Dave Matthews Band, the groom slowly leaned his new wife back.

The latter’s knee then dislocated, even though she was wearing flat shoes and had no knee problems, according to CNN.

“It was in that backward motion, then I said to Paul, I just dislocated my knee. What did he say? OK, let’s get off the dance floor, ”said the bride interviewed at Fox 29 in Philadelphia.

Julie Benn went to the hospital by ambulance in her wedding dress.

After three hours in the hospital and her knee back in place, she returned to her reception.

“Just in time for the last song. I was still heavily medicated. The painkillers weren’t working so they had to give me sedatives in the hospital, ”said Julie Benn in an interview reported by CNN.

The new bride spent her wedding night sleeping in the bed next to her husband while her mother, a nurse, slept on a chair nearby because her daughter was ill from pain medication.
