The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case under the article “ecocide” due to the failure of Ukraine to supply water to the occupied Crimea.

They noted that as a result of the construction of a dam on the territory of the Kherson region, since April 26, 2014, the supply of Dnieper water through the canal leading to the Crimea has stopped.
“Lack of proper water supply in the region causes depletion of agricultural lands, entails changes in the ecosystems of the Sivash Bay and its shallow bays, as well as the state of the fauna populations,” it was reported.
In the Russian Federation, they also complain that during the years of the occupation of Crimea, the salinity of Sivash has tripled, and the populations of rare plant and animal species have significantly decreased.
“The investigation establishes all the circumstances of the” crime “and the persons involved in it,” added the Investigative Committee.
Occupation of Crimea by Russia
