In the EU Member States, the police will monitor road safety more closely throughout the week – Traffic – News

In previous years, the campaign was known as “Edward’s Day” and this year, too, the campaign aims to work together to ensure that there are no road accidents with fatalities and serious injuries on European roads during this time.

The State Police in the territory of Latvia will also take increased care of traffic safety and monitor traffic participants – both drivers and vulnerable road users.

The use of seat belts and child seats will also be monitored, and law enforcement will step up speed control.

Throughout the week, the police will also explain the risks of non-compliance with traffic rules.

The overall aim of the action is to improve road safety,

paying increased attention to the fact that the attitudes and behavior of each road user on the road are a precondition for safe traffic.

In order to achieve this goal together, the State Police calls on every road user to support the campaign, taking care of both their own safety and the safety of others by participating in road traffic.

In Latvia, 91 traffic participants were killed in road traffic accidents by September 15 this year, but 3,025 were injured.

In the same period last year, 90 people died in road accidents, but 3361 people were injured.
