In Russia, a 75-year-old physicist was accused of treason

In Novosibirsk, a professor from the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics was arrested and transferred to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center in Moscow.

Russian intelligence agencies have accused 75-year-old professor Anatoly Maslov, who works as chief researcher at the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in Novosibirsk, of treason.

About it informs Edition “Present Time”.

The case of Anatoly Maslov is likely related to the transfer of data related to developments in the field of hypersonics. The scientist is accused of passing data to China.

It is known that the main direction of his scientific activity is aerogasdynamics. Maslov developed efficient algorithms for numerical calculations of the stability of compressed flows and showed the possibility of complete stabilization of the supersonic boundary layer by cooling the surface of the aircraft.

Maslov has already become the second scientist from Novosibirsk to be arrested on suspicion of treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) in recent days. Earlier, Dmitry Kolker, a 54-year-old doctor of physical and mathematical sciences from Novosibirsk State University, was arrested right at the hospital, where he was hospitalized due to pancreatic cancer.

Both scientists were sent from Novosibirsk to Moscow, as cases of high treason are being investigated by the Central Office of the FSB. High treason is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Recall that earlier in Russia a criminal case was initiated against opposition activist Vladimir Kara-Murza for spreading “false information”.
