Rio City Hall has authorized stadiums to accommodate one third of their capacity for matches in the Rio State Championship from July 10. The decree was released on Friday.

The carioca championship, which opposes professional teams from the State of Rio de Janeiro, resumed with closed-door matches Thursday June 18 and Friday June 19, although Brazil is the second country most affected in the world by COVID- 19 which killed some 57,000 people in 1.3 million cases of infection in total.

The resumption of the championship has nonetheless aroused opposition from several clubs, including Fluminense and Botafogo, who have taken legal action to request its suspension.
