Yesterday on the alleys of Azémar and in the Anglès garden, the Local Council for Security and Prevention of Delinquency and Radicalization (CLPDR), represented by the coordinator Alexandra Saubestre, organized a Prox’Raid Adventure day.
The project was supervised by the Raid Aventure Organization (RAO) association founded in the 1990s by Bruno Pomart.
The former Raid policeman, decorated with prestigious titles such as Knight of the Legion of Honor, had created this device in order to create links with the population and exchange with young people, especially in neighborhoods affected by delinquency.
Improve relations with law enforcement
The sports and citizen village, made up of a self-defense stand, first aid, professional technical intervention gestures, information concerning the prevention of forest fires but also stands dedicated to sports, is part of the actions conducted by the RAO.
“This initiative allows us to break down stereotypes and to carry out constructive exchanges that we cannot achieve during interventions” says police officer Christian Shea, also an RAO volunteer. “The objective is to show young people that the policeman is only doing his job when sanctions are used”.
A spirit of pedagogy emerges from the exchanges between the organizers and the young people. “We had some great encounters which allowed us to have testimonials on our professional careers” explains 14-year-old Olivier accompanied by his mother Vanessa. “It was very instructive, and the initiative made it possible to see another vision of the police, especially among teenagers”.
As the sub-prefect of Draguignan, Eric de Wispelaere, and policeman Abdel Antar pointed out: “These workshops are duplicated throughout France and intensified on several sensitive sites”.
The citizens demonstrated that they appreciated the presence of law enforcement officials during these activities… And on a daily basis.
