In Dijon, Cogitech wins an award for its Minero composite material

Distinguished at the end of 2021 by a Muuz International Award 2021, a professional architecture and design award for technical solutions, the Minero range is a good illustration of the dual competence of the Cogitech company, created in 2000 in Dijon, in Côte d’Or, by Sylvain Quidant and Olivier Mesplomb: technique, even technology, and design, even artistic creation.

A fairly unique positioning as a craftsman engineer, between tradition and innovation, recognized by French luxury players (including LVMH, owner of Echos) and other Swiss watchmakers, Cogitech principals who consult them very early on for creations of store decorations, in particular.

Lightweight, resistant and waterproof, Minero is the result of three years of R & D work, in the Dijon workshops, to develop a set of solutions of mineral materials intended for the manufacture of furniture or interior and exterior decorations. “We wanted to create the most ecological solution possible, when many others are petro-sourced,” says Sylvain Quidant.

Durable et made in France

“We started with poor or poorly valued materials such as facade plasters, technical plasters, mortars or cements, which we diverted from their uses to integrate them into an industrial process for the manufacture of composite materials in order to enhance them for make objects, ”adds the co-founder.

The first Minero solutions were exhibited in Paris, at the Architect @ Work trade fair, in 2020, and the Muuz International Award 2021 which has just been awarded to Cogitech in the “Layout, materials, coatings” category rewards the sustainable approach and 100% made in France of the material.

Labeled Living Heritage Company (EPV) since 2014, Cogitech is made up of three entities: Cogitech, the original structure which places the material at the heart of the creative process and designs objects and furniture; Studio Cogitech, a design studio and an internal R&D unit; and Manufacture XXI, created in 2020, which publishes limited series of decorative objects. The small group employs 15 people, including 8 artisans and project managers, and achieved a turnover of 2.3 million euros in 2021, of which 60% abroad and 60% also with luxury brands. .
