“The worst thing you can do is question the yard. That is the agenda of the Greens,” says De Wever, who expresses his confidence in client Lantis to deal with the situation in a sensible way. He also points to the multi-billion dollar investment and the difficult road that has been traveled to get the works started. “I think Coens just missed the ball.”

But what if there is an insistence on stopping the works? Is there a problem in the Flemish government? “I really can’t imagine that. Nobody can be that stupid to shut down the yard of the century.”
