The Municipality in Dubai has made 3,132 visits to beauty salons since the beginning of this year. During these visits, 43 products related to cosmetics and personal care were seized because they did not comply with health specifications. As a result, the sale of these products in Dubai has been banned.
Dr. Naseem Mohamed Rafie, Director of the Municipality’s Health and Safety Department, said that municipal inspectors inspected beauty salons to ensure they respected all laws and controls set by the municipality.
Among the things that are focused on during the inspection is ensuring that service providers have occupational health certificates, and that the tools they use are clean and sterile.
Also verify that the products being used are safe, in addition to checking the water quality, cleanliness of water tanks, and air quality inside the salons.
43 illegal beauty products raise concern in Dubai
43 violating products have been seized in 105 establishments since the beginning of the year, out of a total of 9,205 establishments. These institutions were violated in accordance with the regulations and laws, and the sale of non-conforming products in the markets was prohibited.
There are multiple reasons for banning these products, such as containing prohibited or unauthorized substances, or not complying with health standards.
The municipality inspects all beauty-related products on a regular basis, whether through border crossings or in markets. This aims to protect consumers and markets from counterfeit products and commercial fraud. Non-conforming products are destroyed and the party involved in their circulation is exposed to accountability.
