JAKARTA – Observable space phenomena will occur this week. An asteroid the size of a sports stadium is heading towards Earth accompanied by four other celestial bodies.

These objects will only pass by the Earth. It is estimated that a stadium-sized asteroid will pass within 1.77 million miles of Earth next Friday.

Reporting from the New York Post, Tuesday (30/1/2024), asteroid 2008 OS7 has a diameter of around 890 feet and will reach its closest point to Earth on Friday 2 February 2024.

While there’s no risk of impact, it’s still close enough to make it appear on NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Asteroid Watch website, which tracks the next five nearby asteroid passes.

In addition to asteroid 2008 OS7, on Sunday, asteroid 2024 AU4, which measures about 260 feet, will pass Earth about 3.92 million miles from its closest point.

Then on Tuesday next week, the asteroid 2007 EG will pass a little closer to Earth. This airplane-sized asteroid is expected to pass at a distance of around 3.8 million miles.

Meanwhile, the asteroid that is predicted to be the first this week is 2024 BY. This house-sized asteroid will be within 1.57 million miles of Earth on Thursday.

On the same day, another airplane-sized asteroid, 2003 BM4, about 120 feet in diameter, will pass by at a distance of 2.06 million miles.
