Ikea, Obi, Mango, H&M or TkMaxx affected: That is now changing when shopping

A uniform and nationwide regulation seems unlikely. Although the number of infections is currently not falling, but rather rising slightly, there should be initial opening steps under certain conditions. In order to keep the risk of increasing numbers of infections under control, consumers should be entitled to at least one free corona rapid test per week.

A kind of speed limit should primarily allow openings.

The federal government had proposed: If the seven-day incidence value is stable at below 35 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, department stores, furniture stores and hardware stores should open again from March 8th.

Some federal states wanted a guideline value of a maximum of 50 new infections – and prevailed. This means that federal states can open shops in places where the seven-day incidence is stable at less than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

In addition, a stricter mask requirement should apply. The number of customers in small branches (less than 800 square meters) is limited to one person per ten square meters of sales area. For larger branches, the rule of thumb applies from 801 square meters: one person per 20 square meters of sales area.

If the incidence value is over 50, companies should introduce appointment shopping from March 8th. The requirement here is: one customer per 40 square meters of sales area. It seems unlikely that big chains like H&M, Zara or even Ikea will implement this concept. According to CHIP information, large chains are facing high personnel and logistical challenges.
