Forney teacher arrested after running over and killing Mesquite teenager


A Forney teacher was arrested this week on a manslaughter charge in connection with a speeding traffic accident in Dallas that killed a Mesquite teenager, according to a news report from the local site. inForney.

According to the outlet, 24-year-old Rickala Chaffold was driving west on the LBJ Express (I-635) when he struck two motorcyclists around 8:30 p.m. on February 22.

Atreyu “Trey” Gowen, 16, died at the scene. A second motorcyclist, Paul Arnett, 28, of Dallas, was seriously injured.

Investigators used surveillance footage to determine that Chaffold was driving 117 miles per hour six seconds before the crash, according to the report. The two motorcyclists were driving 72 miles per hour.

Dallas police arrested Chaffold this week at Forney High School, where he worked. She was booked into the Dallas County Jail on a $ 15,000 bond.
