The teardown professionals at iFixit have it Motorola Razr disassembled and examined it for repairability. The clamshell turned out to be extremely unruly.

A rather negative one Folding function test Motorola had been able to refuse the Razr by C-Net with reference to the unsuitable test environment. Now the group has to deal with an equally unfavorable label by the repair experts from iFixit. Because after that Teardown of the Motorola Razr The professionals only awarded one out of ten possible points in terms of repairability.

Motorola Razr: “Most Complicated Phone”

According to iFixit the Motorola Razr officially “the award for the most complicated phone we have ever taken apart”. The iFixit testers are quite impressed by the implementation of the project to revive the legendary Razr mobile phone and to equip it with modern functions such as a touchscreen display.

An award for special service friendliness is not included, says the detailed teardown. But bringing this impossible device to life at all was apparently such a big task that the first version couldn’t have been easier to assemble. For comparison: The first version of the Galaxy Fold was given a grade of two in iFixit’s repairability index. How that just imagined foldable Samsung smartphone Galaxy Z Flip strikes, has yet to show itself.

A lot of glue hinders repairs

But back to the Motorola Razr. Its only plus point in terms of repairability seems to be that you can take the whole smartphone apart with a single T3 Torx screwdriver. On the minus side, there is one thing above all: glue. Because Motorola apparently used a lot of it. To replace one of the two batteries, the device would have to be completely disassembled, criticizes iFixit. The screen has also been attached with a lot of adhesive, which also makes replacement unnecessarily difficult.
