MIAMI, United States. – A group of undercover reports known as Project Veritas revealed a video which shows a collaborator of Bernie Sanders suggesting that violence could be unleashed if the Vermont senator does not win his party’s nomination for the November elections.
“Cities will burn” if Trump is re-elected, said Kyle Jurek, an Iowa state field organizer for the Sanders campaign.
“If Bernie doesn’t get the nomination or if he goes on to a second round at the DNC convention, Milwaukee will burn,” Jurek said in reference to the Democratic National Convention, to be held next July 13-16 at the Fiserv Forum pavilion of the Milwaukee city, state of Wisconsin.
Upon reaching an unfavorable electoral stage for Sanders, Jurek promised violence against police officers and destruction in general if Trump is re-elected.
“I tell you what they did in Cuba with the reactionaries. Are you going to fight our revolution? Then you must die, you bastard (…) We don’t want to have to do it, have to eliminate people or things like that, but if they are going to fight the revolution, they expect a violent response, ”the activist added.
Jurek also addressed the possibility of enclosing the president’s supporters in “gulags” – a name given to forced labor camps in the former Soviet Union – to be “re-educated.”
Despite the video of the collaborator of Bernie Sanders, the moderators of the debate on January 14 did not ask the Democratic candidate about the explosive statements.
Figures of the Federal Election Commission (FEC) shows that, only between July and September 2019, Kyle Jurek received more than USD 10,000 from the Democratic Senator campaign.
