JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Megawati Sukarno Putri highlights polemics cooking oil that happened in recent times.

The polemic caused a long queue of people. Residents have to jostle and even wait several hours to get cooking oil in some areas.

Megawati admitted that she was not willing to have to wait in long lines to get cooking oil. According to Mega, she prefers other cooking options to waiting in line.

“I watched the women buying the oil, I saw it. If I was told to do that by my late husband, I mocked. I’d better cook at home, boil the cake, steam the cake,” Megawati said as quoted from the webinar “Prevent Stunting for the Golden Generation” broadcast on Youtube Tribunnews, Friday (18/3/2022).

However, he did not deny the importance of cooking oil in Indonesian households.

However, according to him, cooking oil is not a primary need.

“Later, he thinks I’m not helping the little people. But what is this need or not? Actually, it’s not really primary, if you think about it we are creative,” said the former President of the Republic of Indonesia.

He also expressed concern about the domestic cooking oil polemic.

However, Megawati admitted that she did not really care about the scarcity or the price of these basic commodities.

“Until now, when we look at this cooking oil, I touch my chest. I was thinking, so every day ladies, do you just fry it until it’s so scrambled? Isn’t there a way to boil it, then steam it, or like rujak? Isn’t there one? That’s an Indonesian menu too, you know. Why is it so complicated,” said Mega.
