YOGYAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, admitted that he was familiar with the senior investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Novel Baswedan.
Mahfud MD recounted his meeting with Novel Baswedan when he was still the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).

At that time, Mahfud MD claimed to have been asked to be present by Novel in an examination related to corruption cases.
However, Mahfud MD did not explicitly mention the corruption case in question.
In his statement, Mahfud MD admitted that he had come to fulfill Novel Baswedan’s summons. Mahfud MD said that he was examined in less than 15 minutes.
“I came to check. I came no more than 15 minutes,” said Mahfud MD in a discussion with a number of academics at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta on Saturday (5/6/2021).
