Nationalgeographic.co.id—Man quite unique among life on Earth. So far, man is the only living species that has developed a higher intelligence. Like wearing clothes, cooking their own food to creating a smartphone.

But what if man suddenly extinct? animal what else could possibly have evolved to have the intelligence and skills to create a society as large and complex as it has man?

“Modern gene sequencing technology and our understanding of evolution, we (man) are pretty good at making short-term predictions,” Martha Reiskind, a molecular ecologist at North Carolina State University, told Live Science.

If man suddenly extinct tomorrow, climate change will continue to push many species towards drought resistance to survive. Species that live in cold temperatures will also continue to struggle. Unfortunately, polar bears and penguins are unlikely to reproduce in the thousands of years after man nothing.

“The big thing is going to be the concept of convergence,” says Dougal Dixon, geologist, science writer and speculative author. After Man: A Zoology of the Future” St. Martin’s Press, 1998.

Convergence is an evolutionary process in which two unrelated organisms eventually develop a common trait to succeed in a particular environment or fill a particular niche.
