If Aeroflot arrives in Cancun, Russia’s tourism will double

Torruco pointed out that the president and CEO of this airline spoke of the possibility of opening flights to this Mexican Caribbean destination, recalling that previously Aeroflot operated routes to Cancun and Mexico City, with a stopover in Havana.

Currently, Russia connects to Cancun mainly through the flights of the charter airline Azur Air, although last year 23,109 Russians arrived at this destination in Quintana Roo, by various airlines, who generated a spill of $ 22,920,000. .

Secretary Torruco indicated that, from January to June 2021, the number of Russians who arrived at the Cancun international airport was 14,566, which recorded an expenditure of 15,721,000 dollars at the destination.

He specified that, in 2020, Azur Air ranked tenth in passengers transported to Cancun among the main European airlines.

The first place went to Air France, with 39,673 tourists; they are followed by Tui Airways, with 29,330; British Airways, with 19,300; Lufthansa, with 17,361; Air Europa, with 13,329; Edelweiss, with 13,295; Tui Belgium, with 9,849; Tuifly Nordic, with 9,789; Evelop Airlines, with 8,893; and Azur Air, with 8,440 travelers.

The head of Sectur added that, according to the Official Airline Guide, OAG, there are only flights and seats scheduled for the period from September 1 to October 31, 2021.

Azur Air’s schedule on the Moscow Vnukovo-Cancun route is 18 flights, which include an offer of 7,704 seats.
