Ice Hockey World Cup 2021 | MATHEMATICS: Losing with the Danes for zero almost certainly means the end! What will move the Czech Republic to the quarterfinals?

Before their last matches in the group against Denmark (Monday from 15:15 CEST) and Slovakia (Tuesday from 15:15), the Czechs have everything in their own hands. If both duels manage, the procedure will not pass them. And this is very likely even if they succeed in both matches in overtime or raids.

Under what circumstances will the Czechs advance after the match with the Danes?

A) If the Swedes gain two points against Slovakia on Sunday and the Czechs a day later against Denmark they will win after 60 minutes. The selection of Tre Kronor should thus be three points less before the last duels and he would no longer be able to skip Pešán’s team due to the worse balance of mutual matches.

Pesan: We all needed such a quiet match. Including me!

B) If the Swedes get a maximum of points with Slovakia, any victory over the Danes will suffice for the Czechs.

Group A table:
1. Mask 5 4 0 0 1 19:8 12
2. Slovakia 5 4 0 0 1 13:12 12
3. Switzerland 5 3 0 0 2 15:14 9
4. Czechia 5 2 1 0 2 18:14 8
5. Denmark 6 2 1 0 3 12:13 8
6. Sweden 5 2 0 0 3 16:10 6
7. Belarus 5 1 0 1 3 10:17 4
8. United Kingdom 6 1 0 1 4 10:25 4

In the event that the Swedes do not lose a single point of the Slovaks and the Czechs defeat the Danes, the (non) progress of Pešán’s team will not be decided until Tuesday, the final day of the basic groups. The Czechs would certainly need two points against Slovakia. Maybe in the end one or even none, will depend on other results of group A, and especially Tuesday’s duel of Swedes with Russians. The selection of Tre Kronor needs to be defeated in any case, ideally for three points. If the Northerners do not defeat the Russians, the Czechs will be secured a ticket to the quarterfinals in the match with the Slovaks.

Note: All these variants anticipate that the Swiss will gain at least three points in their last two duels with Belarus and Great Britain.

Remaining to take place in the basic group A:
Sunday 15:15 Belarus – Switzerland
Sunday 19:15 Sweden – Slovakia
Monday 15:15 Czechia – Denmark
Monday 19:15 Russia – Sweden
Tuesday 11:15 Switzerland – Great Britain
Tuesday 15:15 Slovakia – Czechia
Tuesday 19:15 Russia – Belarus

But what if the Czechs only get a point with the Danes …

A) If the Swedes gain six points against Slovakia and Russia, the Czechs must defeat the Slovaks in regular time. Then the Czechs, Slovaks and Swedes would have 12 points and a mini-table made up of mutual matches would provide Pešán’s party with one of the promotion points to the quarterfinals. (The Swiss could also have 12 points, but even so, the Czechs would be on the promotion table in the mini-table composed of mutual matches.)

B) If the Swedes get five points against Slovakia and Russia, the Czechs will only need a two-point win over Slovakia.

The Czechs rejoice at the goal against the Swedes. From left Matěj Stránský, Filip Chytil, goal scorer Jakub Vrána and Libor Šulák.

C) If the Swedes gain four points or less against Slovakia and Russia, the Czechs must defeat the Slovaks at least in overtime or raids.

Note: All provided that the Swiss score at least three points in their matches with Belarus and the United Kingdom.

Ice Hockey World Championship 2021

The World Hockey Championship is in progress from May 21 to June 6 in Latvia. All group matches and play off hosts Riga. The Czech national team plays in group A. Zlato from 2019 defends the selection of Finland, the Czechs will try to improve the fourth place.

And what if the Czechs don’t get a point with the Danes …

In that case, they will most likely end up in the group. This is provided that the Swiss score at least three points from the duels with Belarus and Britain. They can have them before Monday’s Czech match with the Danes, because the Swiss are already playing with Belarus on Sunday afternoon.

The Czech national team member Lukáš Klok is rejoicing from the goal into the Great Britain net in the World Hockey Championship match.

The Swiss would have 12 points, while the Czechs would have a maximum of 11, as well as the Danes. And a better balance of matches would speak in favor of the Danes. And even the variant would not help Pešán’s retinue if the Swedes got to 11 points with the Czechs and Danes. A mini-table of mutual matches would be compiled, in which the Danes would have six points and to the quarterfinals
