The Slovaks will start their journey with a championship duel against Belarus and make no secret of their plan to repeat their successful entry into the World Cup from two years ago, when they won over the USA. They last played against Belarus on the ice in Poprad in February, when they won 4: 3 in a match played as part of the Kaufland Cup, and they would easily take the same result this time as well.
“Belarusians are always a tough opponent. They skate well, they have experienced players. But I’m only interested in our performance, we have to focus on our game, and if we can do that, we can succeed,” said Slovak national team coach Craig Ramsay.
