Former international ice hockey player Sophie Kratzer died of a serious illness at the age of only 30. This was announced by her family and the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB).
At the time, she is said to have said to her colleagues: “I am being treated, the doctors call it life-extending measures. But I see it a little differently. I take it sporty. ”According to the newspaper, her last few weeks have been in scratches, where her parents, her partner, the three siblings and her nieces accompanied her to the end.

▶ ︎ Sophie Kratzer has played for the German women’s national team since 2008, took part in five world championships and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and played in 149 international matches. At the 2017 World Cup in Plymouth (USA), Kratzer celebrated the greatest German success in World Cup history when the DEB selection surprisingly reached the semi-finals and finished fourth. In the same year she won the German championship for the seventh time with the ESC Planegg. For DEB, Kratzer recently worked on the organization of the men’s World Cup in Cologne and Paris.
