“I will kick you in the stomach to lose it” – Female victim of violence complains – 2024-04-07 13:35:19

Another woman, a victim of domestic violence, describes the nightmare she lived by her partner’s side, after the murder of 28-year-old Kyriaki outside the AT Agioi Anargyroi. The threats when she was pregnant came true and she lost the baby.

But the apathy with which she was treated by the police who told her not to press charges is also shocking. “I didn’t sue him because I was told the law didn’t protect me, the policeman himself stopped me […] He says to me ‘you have done something to him to react like this'” said the woman on Mega’s show “Smile Again”.

“I was in a relationship for about six months and during that time I was also pregnant. The relationship started in a very nice way. He was kind and caring. I lived alone and in the third trimester he came to my house without a conversation. In the 5 months when he learns that I’m pregnant, the whole torture begins “and if I don’t want you to have it, you won’t have it, I’ll kick you in the stomach to lose it“. In every exam I went and took, he said “why are you going since you won’t have it?”

As she says:

“At two and a half months pregnant, she starts saying ‘I don’t like the food you made’, she would throw the dishes at my head. “And what do you think you are? Useless. What do you think you will become a mother?’ This whole process can wear a person down and you start to feel even worse, like “I have the baby, I want it, I don’t want it?”. There is a complication in the pregnancy and in a fight he kicks me in the stomach, causing me to miscarry. He stole money from me, things from the house.”

“When he picks me up from the hospital he starts by slapping me in the car. Of course I got divorced. Everyone might be saying “and why didn’t you leave?”. Even now I shudder to say it, when you experience all this you do not believe it is happening to you. I had no psychology and could not understand what was happening to me”, he adds.

“You have done something to him to react like this”

A lifeline for her was a neighbor. “The one who helped me was a neighbor who heard the commotion and notified the Police. I leave the house, the Police take me, I had bruises, torn lips. There was no officer and he was the duty officer of 25 years. I didn’t sue him because I was told the law didn’t protect me, the policeman himself stopped me. (…) He tells me “you have done something to him to react like this”. They explain to you that no law protects you, you cross yourself and say “I won’t leave the house until things calm down”. Every house I went to, he would come from outside and wait in the car.”

“His mother herself called me and said “from now on you run if you want to save yourself. Don’t think you’re the first to do it.” They couldn’t put him in the mental hospital because he was disappearing, they couldn’t find him“, she says, sending her own message to women: “Believe in yourself that you can do it because all women can do it.”
