The XP-1 writes the first chapter in Hyperion’s long-term vision and should be the culmination of California automaker’s decades of testing, development and research. More than two hundred scientists are working on the hydrogen drive of a special supercar.

Hyperion has not provided more precise information about what should be under the hood and what materials it will actually be made of. It is clear that the car should have twenty-inch Pirelli P Zero wheels at the front and twenty-one-inch wheels at the rear, and under them will be massive carbon-ceramic brakes with a diameter of 18 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear.

Hyperion did not specify how the hydrogen propulsion would work, however, the car is expected to be equipped with proton exchangeable fuel cells and a system that stores and consumes hydrogen. Of course, the drive will also include electric motors, the car will have all-wheel drive and a three-speed transmission.

According to the manufacturer, the Hyperion XP-1 will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in an incredible 2.2 seconds and reach a top speed of up to 356 km / h with a range of up to 1,635 kilometers with a full charge in less than 5 minutes. The car should then be extremely light, there is talk of 1,032 kilograms.

According to its creators, the Hyperauto XP-1 should serve as a textbook for the masses of people who still do not believe in hydrogen propulsion. According to many, this is too dangerous. However, Hyperion intends to build the car as early as 2022.
