Hurricane Isaías continues its route to the east side of the Florida Strait

According to the HNC weather report, issued at 8 am on Friday the 31st, Isaías maintains sustained winds of 80 miles per hour (130 km / h), after crossing the island of Hispaniola, where the Dominican Republic and Haiti are located.

The hurricane vortex was at that time just 15 miles (25 kms) from the west side of Gran Inagua Island, far from the eastern coast of the island of Cuba, which is equivalent to about 490 miles southeast of Miami.

Thanks to the centrifugal force of the high pressure found on the Atlantic Ocean, which drags the cyclone in the direction of its movement; the storm vortex could drift away from Cuba’s north coast and traverse the eastern side of the Florida Strait

According to the preliminary projection cone, the storm would not pass through the Florida Keys, but through the eastern side of the Florida Strait, between the city of Miami and the islands of the Bahamas.

This projection favors Miami and South Florida, since it would be on the west side of the storm, which is usually less intense in rain and wind.

In this way, Isaiah could somehow affect South Florida, winds or just rain, during the course of Saturday.

Meanwhile, the cyclone, when it was still a tropical storm, unloaded torrential downpours on the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

Meteorologists insist that Isaías’ trajectory could change and that his passage through the eastern side of southern Florida depends on the presence of high pressure in the Atlantic.
