Hundreds of women marched in Minsk

Minsk, Sept. 19, LETA – AFP. Belarusian police special forces in Minsk on Saturday detained several hundred women who had taken to the streets of the capital in an unauthorized demonstration by the authorities in protest against the rule of authoritarian leader Alexander Lukashenko.

The women’s solidarity march was attended by around 2,000 participants.

Police blocked the demonstration road, preventing the march from moving on, and began arresting the participants.

Several hundred people were recently detained, a AFP correspondent reported from the scene.
